It is a matter of profound pleasure for me to extend heartiest felicitations to the students on their admission to Government Murray College Sialkot. GMC Sialkot is one of the oldest educational Institutions of our homeland. It has played a pivotal role in the development of psycho-social fabric of our society and its impact has even been felt in the whole Sub-Continent. Under the colonial rule Murray College used to attract young people from all over the Sub-Continent because of the open and vibrant atmosphere which it provided to the budding youth.
Even after independence i.e., after 1947, it continued to be a haven for men of letters. It has played a significant role in the dissemination of knowledge to the people of this area.
Government Murray College, Sialkot is such an institution for which the living souls have a special sort of attachment. People become nostalgic about their alma mater (GMC). Why is it so? And why it is not so with many other educational institutions of this planet? One's alma mater (GMC) has a special place in one's heart because it contributes beyond what one expects from an educational institution!
GMC is a place, where WITS are sharpened and talent is chiselled by the interacting living souls, FACING, beyond expectations, the oddities and persecutions of social ills. It has managed to tide over crises after crises. It has also escaped the effects of sordidness. It has continued its onward march towards its goal, which its founders had set before them.
We fully realize that we have an up hill task to accomplish. Therefore, we have made Govt. Murray College a model for the post-graduate institutions, to be followed by them. Other institutions will surely follow GMC in order to disseminate knowledge and learning. Here, every soul is provided with an atmosphere to live in peace and harmony and to enjoy full opportunities to enhance his or her capabilities, without any fear of prejudice.
Every new generation has got its advantages as well disadvantages over the preceding one. But the most conspicuous advantage, had by the present new generation is that it has still got the arenas open to that knowledge, which lessens human misery. Our endeavour in GMC is to provide and expose you to all the fields of studies, as our faculty members always try to be helpful to the students.
I hope that after joining GMC you will also make your best contribution to this great institution. Our objective for the future is to turn GMC into a full-fledged Post-graduate institution. With the assistance of the Government, we hope to achieve this noble goal. We will continue to march forward. The Murrayites are hungry for knowledge and we will continue our endeavours to bring an end to the drought of knowledge. May Allah help us (Aameen!!)
